Reviews and Ratings
I was amazed by the beautiful rooms opening directly onto a stunning central courtyard landscaped with volcanic rock, featuring 2 hot tubs. The cleanliness and brightness of the rooms with direct access to the hot tubs outside made my stay very enjoyable. However, the typical Icelandic room design came with a higher price tag compared to other regions in Iceland.
Upon arriving at the hotel, I found the room too hot, but once settled in, I enjoyed the clean and comfortable space that led directly to the two hot tubs on the premises. The location is great for exploring nearby attractions like the secret lagoon and Gulfoss waterfall, offering a relaxing backdrop of hills and mountains. The dining experience was a mix of goodies and spoiled dishes, with globally inspired dishes on offer.
The hotel offers large and very comfortable beds in stylish rooms, but lacks bathrobes and facing inwards. The service was mixed with both cold and unfriendly encounters and kind gestures like waking guests up for aurora sightings. The location is good for accessing popular attractions, though some aspects left room for improvement. The dining experience was varied but somewhat disorganized. Overall, a stay with positive and negative aspects.
The hotel felt like a separate little cottage with a balcony, offering nice and comfy beds and a lovely coffee maker. Access to the courtyard and hot tubs was a plus, although adjusting the hot tubs' temperature was a bit tricky. The location, right off of the Golden Circle, was beautiful and pleasant, with lovely views, making it a convenient stopping place while traveling. The dining experience was great with tasty options available, and the service was generous and helpful, ensuring a pleasant stay overall.
I absolutely loved my stay at this hotel! The rooms were nice and comfy, and I enjoyed the convenience of the coffee maker. Being able to access the courtyard and hot tubs directly from my room was a great touch. However, the layout of the TV channels in two columns took some getting used to.
My stay at the hotel was a mix of positives and negatives. The rooms were clean and minimalist, spacious with direct access to the inner garden and a small hot tub, typically Icelandic in style, and a good size. The service was very attentive and extremely friendly, although the management seemed a little grim at times. The location had its ups and downs, being isolated with limited evening activities but offering a great view of the Northern Lights albeit with some light pollution. The dining experience ranged from being pricey to wonderful, with a feast-like quality but also some disorganization. Overall, the hotel has its charm but comes with a few drawbacks to consider.
